About Me

In my practice I am especially interested in how anxiety, stress, and tension negatively affect our mind and body.  I love working with clients to help shift this impact.

I have always been interested in everything related to the power of the mind:  our capacity to learn, the incredible feats of memory we can all be trained to do, the workings of the subconscious, and the power of the imagination—all that and more.  Hypnosis, as it accesses the imagination and the subconscious, is particularly interesting and has been since I read about it and dabbled in it successfully as a teenager.  When I retired from a dual career in administration and freelance writing, I decided to take a certification course in it.

When I applied what I had learned about self-hypnosis, the results were amazing.  The most dramatic experience took place in a hospital emergency room where I was suffering from sudden-onset intense pain due to a one-time medical issue.  I eventually managed to remember during the waves of pain that I had training in how to handle this, and when I applied the simple technique I had learned, the pain subsided immediately and significantly.

As a part of my original training, I was required to complete a practicum with volunteers.  I found I loved working with others as well as practising self-hypnosis, and when I received incredibly positive feedback during the practicum, I decided to open a practice to help others benefit.

In addition to my original training and certification, I have taken continuing professional education in the following subjects with the following teachers:

  • Integrative Medical Hypnosis (Certification):  Roger Moore and Tracy Barrett Adams

  • Insomnia and Sleep Issues (Certification):  Tracy Barrett Adams

  • Autoimmune Diseases (Specialised Training):  Roger Moore

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome Protocol (Specialised Training):  Richard Nongard

I am also a part of two professional organisations: the International Certification Board of Coaches and Hypnotists (ICBCH) and the International Medical & Dental Hypnotherapy Association (IMDHA).

On a personal note, I was born and raised in Saskatchewan and have lived my entire life here, starting in small towns and then all my adult life in Regina.  I am an avid reader (mostly mysteries, science fiction, and fantasy).  I love music, and I listen to a wide range of genres—blues, top 40, swing, rockabilly, jazz, classical, and more.  I also enjoy experimenting with vegan/vegetarian recipes taken from my extensive cookbook collection, although I’ve discovered that buying/reading new cookbooks and actually trying the recipes tend to be two separate hobbies.  My husband and I have always had a little group of rescue animals living with us—currently two senior dogs and four young cats, all of whom get along very well together.
